Happy New Year and New Decade!

When I started the last decade, I didn’t really mark the occasion. I barely noted it at the time! But it led into the most challenging but also most rewarding decade of my life.

So I’m excited to see what the next decade holds! I’d hope for more rewarding things, more exciting things, and less of the challenging things, but I was recently reminded that those who go through challenges are often the most kind, understanding, caring, selfless people. And that’s not a coincidence.

But this post isn’t about the decade. It’s about 2020! (My OCD just loves that number.) I have a lot of goals for the new year (some I’ve already made progress on!), so I thought that putting them here would help make me accountable to stick to them! There are a ton — and I know there will be adjustments made along the way — but I’m excited about this year and ready to get these things DONE!

A little note before I get started: I have two sets of goals: one is a list of the things I’d like to get done this year. The other is a SMART goals list of where I’d like to be with certain platforms, with numbers and other metrics. I’ll only be listing the first one here.

I got this idea from The Content Planner. This is my first year to own one, and it’s amazing! It’s really helping me focus as I move into this first full year of being a full-time entrepreneur.

And these are my yearly goals, which I then break down into monthly goals, then weekly goals, then daily tasks. I’m still learning, as I’ve never been one to plan anything, but I’m slowly getting the hang of it! (And if planning’s always been a struggle for you like it has been for me, check out @thecontentplanner on Instagram for insights and planning help. Just her highlights are super helpful!)

Okay, here we go!

Goals for 2020

  1. Publish 2 books in the Codex series. I plan to release The Prophecy of the Codex first, then the third book (still deciding on the final title), both this year! This is gonna be tricky to pull off, but I have a timeline. The struggle for me is sticking to it! If you have any tips for how to stick to a timeline you set for yourself, please let me know.

  2. Take on more editing clients. I really LOVE editing other people’s work. It’s so satisfying to help someone make their manuscript the best it can be! (And by the way, I’m booking now for the late winter and spring! Check out this page for more information and to get on my schedule before it books up!)

  3. Add more content to my existing Instagram for Authors course, launch 2 additional courses, and release the Indie Author Learning platform to the world. You probably haven’t heard much about that last part yet, but I’ve got it scheduled for later in the year, so I’m sure you will! I’ve already got some dates worked out for these, plus I’m planning on releasing some inexpensive downloadables just for authors in between the courses! Stay tuned for more info as the year goes on.

  4. Relaunch my Patreon page. I started my Patreon page last year, but I didn’t have the time to devote to it to really make it something great. So in 2020, I’ll be relaunching with regular, exclusive content, and I may change up the tier rewards, too! We’ll see…

  5. Give those who follow me online audacious value. That word “audacious” keeps popping up in my head. The definition of audacious is “extremely bold or daring; recklessly brave; fearless” but it also means “extremely original; without restriction to prior ideas; highly inventive” and also “lively; unrestrained; uninhibited.” These are my goals for my social media and online content this year: to give, bold, brave, inventive, original, uninhibited value to everyone who comes in contact with me this year. A side goal of this is to always be proud of the picture I’m posting! I’m ashamed to say this hasn’t always been the case, but this year will be different.

  6. Start releasing YouTube videos once a week and stick to the schedule! Okay, so this falls a little under the second category of goals, but I wanted to include it here to let you know I’ve started weekly videos, releasing at noon on Fridays! The only way to grow on YouTube (or any other platform, for that matter) is to be consistent, so this will help me reach my goal AND more people in the process!

Okay, I think that’s enough. 🙈 It’s gonna be a big year, but I’m determined to make this year the best yet.

What about you? What are your big goals for 2020?
